Beta version of Midway Available
Here we are. One year after starting to work on Midway, the beta version is ready (more on that later). I didn’t work on it constantly since 2025. I hesitated a lot before starting in earnest. Vibecoding only gets you so far, but it got me far enough to overcome the fear of not being able to build this.
Since last year, I did:
- An user survey to get some product-market fit validation
- A live mockup to test some design and UX ideas
- A functional app to test multiple airlines data APIs
- Build a landing page to describe the product
- Build the actual app (!)
The current version is very simple: you enter 2 airports, and the app will display the common destinations reachable by direct flights from both airports. There’s a mode to highlight the « midway » between the 2 departure cities. You can also see the results in a table format to sort by destination name, flight duration. Finally, you can filter the common destinations by month since airlines schedules vary a lot.
Now it feels like crossing the finish line, but that’s only the start! This is a beta, which means: the core experience works and I use it myself, but there’s a lot more to come. Flight prices, the ability to search for actual flights once you pick a destination, filtering by country or continent — all on the roadmap. What you see today is deliberately simple, and your feedback will directly shape what gets built next.
Give it a try with your friends or family cities (share it with them !), give me your feedback matthieu@midway.travel
