Hotel Tech Stack, An example of the never-ending opportunities in front of us

I recently read a really good article by Thomas Reiner about the hospitality industry, which I’m not particularly familiar with. It reinforced my belief that a solution we often assume is the best for every business user’s problem isn’t always the case.

Looking at his hotel tech stack diagram, I see numerous opportunities. It highlights that what works for one type of hotel won’t necessarily work for another. Even more important, what was once effective may become obsolete as technology evolves, as we’ve seen with the web, search engines, smartphones, and now AI.

I understand my observations might seem obvious, but as a hotel booking customer, these players are largely invisible to me. There’s a complex “dance” involved, and it’s exciting to think about creating new products to take advantage of opportunities made possible by business, technology, or customer behaviour changes.
