Not every airport is a city, and not every city is one airport

When you create a new product, one of the first things you learn is to make the trade-off between the features you want to build and what you actually ship. You have to avoid the “just one more thing before releasing it” syndrome.

For example, when I started building Midway, I put support for metropolitan area airport codes aside. These codes group several airports under one code — NYC for JFK, EWR, and LGA, for example.

A Midway user sent me feedback about this gap. I took it as a signal that we needed to add the feature. You can now search either way: the regional code, or a specific airport if you prefer to depart from one in particular.

And when you select a destination, you can see the lowest price in the region and the corresponding departure airport.

Not a big release — but good products get better one increment at a time.
