Closing the loop: searching flights from Midway
I’m back from a 3-week trip to Taiwan. First of all, welcome to the new (and numerous) subscribers coming from Recomendo. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please reply to this email; it will help Midway get better!
Before leaving, I was hinting at the upcoming booking feature. It’s now available. . Until now, once Midway gave you a destination, you still had to head to another site and re-enter each departure airport by hand to find actual flights. As I described in the previous post, this is not the ideal solution, but it’s a first step.
When you select a destination pin on the map, each departure city now has a button that takes you to Kayak (I earn an affiliate fee when you book through the link; thanks for your support!).
The link will bring you to the search results page with the following parameters: a 5-day direct-flight trip starting next month, with +/- 3 days flexibility.
The links are also visible in the table version of the Midway results.
That closes the loop — from departure cities, to a shared destination, to a booking. But this is not the end. For example, one of the weak spots is the sharing feature; I think it will benefit from having something more native, directly in Midway when a group of friends is planning a trip.
But this is for later; I’m concentrating for now on making Midway more discoverable in search results when people are looking for this kind of tool.
